The first step to carry out when painting an object is cleaning it thoroughly with warm water and soap. Use a scrubbing brush to get rid of all dust and any grime. Dirt makes surfaces bumpy and gives a substandard job if not removed before painting.
When you are satisfied with the cleaning, rinse your plastic object well with clean water and then let it dry or use a cloth to wipe it dry. Ensure that your object is void of any soap residue. Inspect the object well to scrape off any flaky substances. Make your item rough with sandpaper or steel wool to make the primer settle on it well. Clean it with a wet cloth to make it ready for painting.
For the painting, it is best to do your work outside in an open area. It is not easy to come off in all areas, so before painting, make sure that you have cleared an area of the important material. Cover any other important areas like nearby walls and the floor with rags or newspaper for protection. Wear a mask when painting to avoid making yourself uncomfortable with the paint smell, especially if you have sensitive health conditions.
Now apply the high-quality primer on your item and let it dry well. When dry, apply the second layer of the primer and also give it time to dry fully. The essence of the primer is to let the paint to rest smoothly and evenly. Take your metallic paint and spray it all over the object carefully and evenly. Allow it to dry overnight before interfering with it. Always remember to shake the paint thoroughly before use.
